FLOWCUTTER’s Summer & Autumn 2024: Insights from Three Key Conferences

FLOWCUTTER’s Summer & Autumn 2024: Insights from Three Key Conferences

This summer and autumn, we attended three major industry conferences, connecting with leading experts and exploring innovative solutions. Here’s a quick recap of the key moments and insights from these events.

In October, we participated in the prestigious Where Digital Networks Are Heading 2024 conference, which once again brought together top experts and professionals in networking and telecommunications.

Our main topic: How to effectively integrate vulnerability management and network anomaly detection into a single user interface.

Participants also appreciated our solutions for detecting and mitigating DDoS attacks, as well as our practical workshops focused on leveraging tools like Grafana.

conference KKDS Plzeň, 2024

Setkáni ISP Aliance

In September, we attended the ISP Alliance Meeting 2024, a key event for internet service providers (ISPs) and other industry professionals.

Our main topic: Introducing one of our most significant innovations – “vulnerability scanning” integrated into FLOWCUTTER.

This feature conducts regular analyses of IP ranges, identifying open ports, running applications, and their potential vulnerabilities (CVEs). With automated severity assignment, users can effectively prioritize which issues to address first.

MikroExpo 2024

In July, we were proud to be a partner of the MikroExpo 2024 conference, focused on internet service providers (ISPs).

Our main topic: “Troubleshooting – What are the benefits of having SNMP and NetFlow side by side? Monitoring Mikrotik ports in the network.” Our CEO, Matej Pavelka, kicked off the event with a keynote on this subject.

We demonstrated how the combination of these tools enables efficient monitoring and troubleshooting in network infrastructure.

Quibit 2024, Prague

Quibit 2024, Prague

Czech Republic, Prague, 2024 April

Qubit Conference® is an event that has been held since 2010, offering a unique opportunity to connect with leading experts in cybersecurity, cloud technologies, new tech innovations, data breaches, privacy protection, mobile devices, and digital forensics. It provides real-world experiences from the cybersecurity “battlefield” through the insights of professionals, with the goal of delivering practical knowledge and the latest updates in the field.

We perceived the conference as highly professional and focused on the enterprise segment. However, we were surprised by how little attention was given to the key role ISPs play in securing small and medium-sized businesses.

For our FLOWCUTTER team, it was crucial to listen closely and identify potential future collaborations. The discussions provided us with valuable insights for optimizing our solutions and adapting our strategies to the current security needs.

It was fascinating to observe the confrontation of two worlds with different approaches to security. It seems to us that this difference is not due to a lack of expertise, but primarily because of the limited budgets allocated for protecting businesses that are not considered “critical infrastructure” or multinational corporations.

With FLOWCUTTER and its team, led by our CEO Matej Pavelka, we shared our insights in a presentation titled: “Networks Don’t Lie.”

“The presentation focuses on an underrated source of truth (netflow data), which you can rely on when other security and forensic data sources are compromised (or too expensive).

Various aspects are illustrated through a security incident that began at the ISP level and eventually ended in the OT network of a small to medium-sized business. We walk through the steps of the kill-chain to see what traces were left at each step in the network logs, what additional context could be gathered from the network layer, the degree of certainty with which it could have been detected, and how some steps can be mitigated or even completely prevented.”
